Hello, my name is Nita Soltes. I am so delighted to be teaching in the Learning Center at Delta Elementary Charter School. This is my first year at Delta Elementary and it has been an amazing experience so far.
I have a degree in Child Development from California State University at Sacramento in Child Development. I have been working with exceptional needs students in elementary, middle, and high school for twenty-two years. I started as a volunteer in my son’s school, then to Yard Supervisor, progressed to Resource Specialist’s Assistant, and now Resource Specialist. I have been the resource program for fifteen years both as a teacher and assistant. I can honestly say I have loved every position but teaching is the best one!! Teaching students to read is my passion and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I have fifteen years of training and experience in teaching students with diverse needs with the reading program SIPPS.
I am a mother of an amazing University of California at Santa Barbara graduate (Go Gauchos!!) and a widow of an amazing husband and father of our son. I love to volunteer in my community with many types of charities. I work with Grace and Mercy Charitable Foundation right now. In the past, I have worked with the SPCA to spay and neuter feral cats. I even have a feral cat as a pet!!
My goal is to bring structure, hope, purpose and fun to our students this year!! I am so excited to be teaching the children of Delta Elementary Charter School this year!!
